Services

Design services we provide include:

Concept Planning

At MADS we know it takes more than just a good idea to make a product, it also takes knowledge and planning.  Maintaining a staff with expertise in a wide range of disciplines gives us the ability to address all aspects of product design.  During the concept planning phase you will meet with engineers to determine the latest available technologies and processes to implement your concept.  An evaluation is made where technology costs are weighed against  the finished product price point to create an electronic hardware architecture and a proposed industrial design structure. These two items can be used to generate an engineering specification and get an estimate of development and production costs. Detailed concept planning  will help insure that the end product can be produced  in a time frame and at a price that will meet your marketing goals.

Concept Planning services we provide include:

  • Technology Evaluation

  • Hardware Architecture

  • Industrial Design Structure

  • Engineering Specification

  • Production and Development Costing

Mechanical Design

MADS uses 3D AutoDesk Mechanical Desktop & Inventor solid and surface modeling to design mechanical and industrial enclosures.  Enclosures we have designed include:

  • Electromechanical Systems

  • Injection Molded Housings and Components

  • Sheet Metal Chassis

  • Extruded and Machined Parts

  • Castings, Stampings, Etchings

  • Keyboards and Membrane Switches

Our Industrial Designs yield true-to-scale 3D CAD models, also known as virtual prototypes, which can be rendered and printed in full color for use as marketing tools.  The virtual prototype is also invaluable as a design check tool prior to fabrication.  In addition, because the virtual prototype is true-to-scale, it can then be quickly finalized and detailed yielding fully dimensioned drawings.  The database can be used for SLA or FDM rapid prototypes.

Analog Design

MADS has extensive experience in designing analog circuitry.  Products we have designed include:

  • Linear and Switching Power Supplies
  • High Efficiency DC to DC Converters
  • Controls
  • Meters
  • Sensors

analog op-amp circuitry with both surface mount and thru-hole components.

Digital Design

To provide a quick turnaround on initial and modified designs MADS uses a networked platform of PC based CAD packages for schematic capture and PCB layout. We start by creating schematics which integrate the digital components, typically microprocessors, Lattice CPLDs, and FPGAs. Then we use the latest advances in surface mount technology to create a board layout that is both electronically reliable and cost effective.

Software Design

Embedded Systems Development

MADS provides full embedded processor firmware development services to complement our PCB design services.  We utilize the latest emulator technologies to debug failures in existing products and to create diagnostics to insure a new product meets design specifications.

Application Development

MADS also designs standalone PC applications.  Our services include:

  • Device Drivers for Microsoft WinXP/2000 and Linux

  • PC based diagnostics for peripheral products

  • Customized Business Applications

  • Platform migration of existing applications

  • Demonstration programs

MADS software design services will provide application development in any standard language from microprocessor assembler language to high level languages such as Visual Basic and Visual C++.

Documentation

MADS provides a complete set of documentation for every product we design.  Depending on the design, the documentation may include the following CAD items:

  • Mechanical Drawings
  • Schematics
  • PCB Artwork
  • PCB Drill and Assembly Drawings
  • Software Flowcharts and Source code
  • Bill of Materials, complete with list of part manufacturers and part numbers

Prototyping

MADS prototyping services include:
  • Printed Circuit Board Assembly (Surface Mount Devices and Thru-Hole components)
  • Product Assembly
  • Test and Verification of Product Functionality and Manufacturability
  • Virtual Prototyping: CAD based 3D modeling used as a rapid proof-of-concept, a marketing tool, and a proof of manufacturability prior to parts procurement.

Below is an example of MADS virtual prototyping services. This rendering was created using AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop and AccuRender (it has been reduced in resolution for internet viewing).  The product is a glucose monitor for diabetics.

Manufacturing

One of the services which makes MADS unique in the electronics industry is not just our ability to design and build working prototypes but also to assemble, test, package and ship production quantities. Utilizing MRP and adhering to strict quality control standards MADS has the equipment to manufacture finished product in quantities ranging from initial production proving runs to full production volumes.
